Edwardian Novels : The Francine Series

The Francine books started as a short story, then a novella put together to make Book 1. Published separately first, the reviews were stellar, but are down now because it was merged.  Francine always knows what to do, and lots of readers seemed to need her! Here are some of the reviews:

I loved Francine, absolutely adored her
...this fabulous character
This was so unique in that the heroine is not a gentlewoman or lady, but a very enterprising young servant.
As previously stated Francine has many adventures that must be told and I would be her biggest fan. Please let this spirited woman live on. You are a great story teller.
Whets the appetite....glad I already have the sequel! Can't wait to get into it.....love Alicia Cameron's entertaining stories and books!
It is amazing that so much can be said about a woman's power and self-sufficiency in such a ... read.
...loved, loved, loved Francine

Book 1
It is 1901, and though Francine, a ladies maid, has just been cast out without a character, she is remarkably sanguine. Francine is a survivor from the meanest streets in London, and she has her own resources.
She dares where others tremble and she imparts that spirit to others
Can poor, feeble Miss Mathilda Philpott, an ex-governess of a certain age, be helped at all? Under Francine's direction she becomes The Fascinating Mathilde!
In the new era of sudden possibilities for middle class women, Francine takes advantage both for herself and her friends. But the poor are with her too. She transforms female fear into courage and their limited horizons into ambition.
On the way there is adventure, romance and remarkable and lasting change.

Book 2 ... AT LAST!!!
Francine is running her agency with her friends Mathilde Philpott,  tiny friend and maid Tilly, plus Gilbert the footman, when an old enemy threatens to destroy her.
The agency helps a young girl bartered to a questionable beau for the sake of her father's business, a concert pianist whose unfaithful manager and husband has abandoned her and a rich woman doubtful of her suitors.
Francine's  enemy Mr Curlew could destroy her agency in a moment, believing that Francine aided his wife's escape from his abuse. But he wants more: he enjoys doing physical harm.

But can Francine, so good at dispensing aid, accept help herself? Sir Hugo Portas, dashing Government Minister, is drawn into the plans of her friends to help.
